The center was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology on April 13, 2007. Supervise by the Institute of Science and Technology of Shandong Province, Shandong University cooperates with other institutes, such as Institute of Pharmaceutical Research of Shandong Province, Bowling Biotechnology Co.Ltd of Shandong Province, Longli Biotech Co,Ltd of Shandong Province and Futian Pharmaceutical Co.Ltd of Shandong Province. Currently, there are 15 professors (10 doctoral supervisors) and 14 associate professors in the center. Each year it enrolls about 40 postdoctoral fellows, PhD students and 200 master’s students who engage in the research work related to carbohydrates.
